Why you should include Finishing on Pre-Pro Meetings
Donβt wait until the last minute to involve your post team! The sooner you involve us, the sooner we can get a workflow and pipelines in place to save you time and money.
Pre-pro meetings (meetings held in the pre-production phase with all departments) are a great way to ensure everyone on your team from start to finish is on the same page.
It is extremely important to think of your final home of your project and then work backwards. If archival is needed in 4K, but you are only delivering to the network at HD, you will still need to finish at 4K to ensure deliverables down the road can be made. Having a finishing team on a pre-pro call can save you months of re-doing work by laying down the groundwork for workflow at the beginning stages.
Finishing can also be included when talking about the look and feel of the project. A colorist can have a look-set session with your camera and/or HMU tests to help create a LUT that can be used on set. This will help ensure monitors on set are as close as possible to the final look before you even step foot in the color suite.
Lastly, we are stuck in dark rooms and love the chance to finally put faces to names and get to know you and more about your projects. We love collaborating and look forward to that initial meeting to get the ball rolling.
